I can tell you coming into this class I didn't think I was going to learn anything. But I was wrong to think that. I would tell anyone that asks me about taking this class what its about, and what they will learn? I learned the two differences of happiness. Natural happiness is when you get what you want when you want it, and synthetic is man made to make you happy. Another thing I would tell them is. I learned that reality TV is not really "reality". The producers go through and pick out clips that they think are interesting and only show those on TV. The viewers watching only see the people acting in certain ways which then gives the people being shown a certain trait or way they act. I would tell them that you read a lot of different readings about different stuff but they are short and easy to get. Above all this is an easy class and an easy grade if you do the readings and show up to class everyday. All the material is interesting and the way it is taught is awesome.

sim happy # 12
in this post we have to talk about the sim character chuck klosterman creates and explain what type of happiness he has synthetic or natural. Now remember synthetic happiness is when you get when you don't get what you want. Natural happiness is what you get when you get what you've wanted. I I would say that chuck is giving sim chuck synthetic happiness by buying him all the stuff that real chuck thinks he wants and that will make him happy and it doesn't. From the reading he does this all the way up to the end where he talks about pushing the free will button and sim chuck does what ever he wants eats takes a shower and sleeps for 14 hours straight in his sleep machine. When real chuck pushed that button he was then giving sim chuck natural happiness by not being his god or the one calling the shots.

Post #11 item of GEN. X
Im going to talk about reality tv and its affects it has on the millennial generation. Media plays a big role on my generation. If you think about tv shows and how they are classified or how they are broken down. They represent certain groups of people that are just like the show (i.e. the characters and the way they act). People of this generation are represented by tv shows like teen mom, real world. People of my generation grew up with reality tv at its highest if you think about American Idol it started when I was about 7 and is still being watched today. Reality tv isn't just about all the stupid drama or underage kids having babies. Its a way for people to watch and observe or experience something that they will probably never get to in there life and I think that this plays a big roll in the millennial's generation
Post #10 reality tv show farmers and blondes
I would make a tv show where u take a bunch of hillbilly rednecks and a group of ditzy blonde girls and put them together in a house for a month as roommates. I don't think that I would have to try to create drama I think that as soon as they are put together there will be tension and fights rght off the get go. If you think about the personalities farmers are more laid back when it comes to how clean things can be or when it comes back to putting things back where they came from. If you think of a ditzy blonde they ask a lot stupid questions, and do NOT!!! like getting dirty or and or clean freaks. I think that this kind of show would be kinda both a comedy and a drama all at the same time.
Masculinity #9
Masculinity is all around for young boys growing up you are pressured into doing sports and or things that are considered to be manly. One thing that is a big thing would be sports if boys don't want to play a sport that is manly or any sport for that matter they are considered to be unmanly and are subjected to name calling. Another way masculinity plays a big toll in todays culture is if you think back a couple post we had to pick two slides that dehumanized women and made men look like the dominant sex. Being considered manly is all around us even in the work force if you don't do anything that you have to work with your hands your doing a girls job lol. Another thing that young boys or teens see as a way to make your self manly is to join the military they think that just by joining that you can become a man over night lol. I can tell you first hand being in the military that there are a lot of boys that do this.

MEAN WORLD SYNDROME POST #8
We watched a video in class about that the scholar George Gerbner explains the term Mean World Syndrome. We had to choose three topics that he talked about and explain them. The first one I picked is the fall out. He explains this as what makes people have higher crime punishments to make fear from the people go away. In other words being more harsh like police or the courts with someone who commits a crime will make them stop by putting fear in them to not want to do it and face the consequence. The second term I picked that George explains is the Mean People term. He explains this as being how different ethnic groups are displayed on television or in movies, to be more violent or more dangerous and it puts fear in others eyes. The last term I want to talk about is the term Mean World Syndrome its self. He explains this as people seeing bad things happening to people on television or movies and intern makes people walk around on edge and in fear of being victimized.

post 7 Football High
We watched a video in class called "football High". I' am going to write about two subjects and the countermeasures football programs have in place to lower these types of injury's. The first one being heat strokes are heat exhaustion. In the video we watched it talked about two boys both having a heat stroke and being rushed to the hospital. With one boy the school had a trainer that new what to do in this situation, and the other school just had coaches that really didn't know what to do. Schools are having trainers present for practices and for games incase of something like this happening or injury's. The second one I'm going to talk about is concussions that players get from taking big hits to the head. They are trying to improve the football helmets that the players wear buy putting high tech impact gels and padding inside to protect form hits that are damaging to the head and brain.
post 6
I 'am going to write about how women are degraded and used as objects to sell things. watching television or reading magazines I never really paid attention to how women were being used to sell things or how they were being dehumanized and their bodies turned into objects to sell something. This type of advertising can be found every where. I see it every where I look now, its hard not to see women in this role, and men being showing as the dominant sex.

college porn star
Today I'm blogging about a college porn star that was criticized and threaten because of the decision to do porn. The main thing I'm going to talk about is how when all of her peers found out who it was they acted out in ways they shouldn't have and had no reason to. They talked about how she was harassed and threatened and how they put her address and where to find her all over the internet. That is wrong in so many ways all she was doing was porn to attend her dream school and be able to afford to pay for her 60 thousand dollar tuition fee. Another thing I want to talk about is when she is being interviewed on the television show the View and they talk about what she said when she feels empowered and has never felt more like a woman before. They keep asking her why she does it, well why do they care she doing it to pay for college end of story. She has told everyone that she enjoys and doesn't have to worry about paying for her education they way she is getting treated kind of reminds me of the old saying "don't judge a book by its cover". Just because she does porn does not make her a slut or a whore and they called he all of those names and some with out knowing her.

degrading women ads post #4
The two ads I ran across while looking for ones to post about are. First the one on the right a women licking an ice cream cone cause its hot outside and old spice saying if u where our cologne women will lick u and eat you just because u smell good. The second one I found our two Coors light girls promoting the adult beverage buy painting them selves like the bottle and being completely topless while promoting it buy saying Coors light its the sexy hot alcohol beverage to drink. Jean Kilborne would object to both of these pictures because one in the Coors light ad the women's body now are an object at which one should buy, and another objection she would say is just because I women is eating ice cream on a hot day doesn't mean that cologne and ice cream go together.

Comparison Blog
in this blog I have to compare one of our readings to Everything Bad is Good for You. the reading that I'm choosing to pick is the Futile pursuit of happiness . In everything bad is good for you they talk about how TV makes you sit back and relax and the internet makes you lean forward and interact with the computer. He also talks about his nephew and how he was playing the video game sims with him and he turns to his uncle after playing it a while and says you need to lower your industrial taxes to make money. In pursuit of happiness they talk about how people try to predict that one thing or one event will make them more happier and better off in life when really it doesn't. If you think about what I just said and think about the game that and steven Johnson playing with his nephew. when they are playing the game everything that they do in the game they think is bettering their odds at playing but if you look at the big picture it really doesn't in the long wrong they will have to change what ever they did eventually to be happy for a short while.

Generation Like Blog
Today I'm blogging about a video we watched in class the other day about generation like. The two main topics I picked to write about are how he compared social media to hunger games, and how companies see it as a promotional opportunity. My first topic I want to talk about and what I think is the main point of the video is how he compared hunger games to social media.Take Katniss Everdeen, And Peeta Mellark in the movie they are put into a world where they have to fight to stay alive. They have to get sponsors and people to like them to help them live longer in the game. There is a person they call the Game Maker that runs the Hunger Games and calls every shot on what will happen or when someone gets help from a sponsor. That starts me off with my second topic with how big time companies see it as a promotional opportunity. If u think of Tyler Oakley a famous you tuber from the video. He was talking about taco bell and how they gave him free tacos and free stuff to promote their food on his YouTube blogs. The reason why I picked these two topics is, if you think about it life these days to be famous or well known is like hunger games. You need sponsors(big companies) who want you to promote their stuff and give u gifts too, and just like my title a lot of people who LIKE you cause likes in the social world is like money.

first blog for popular cultures
I think what Malcom is talking about is a little bit of both natural and synthetic happiness. Synthetic happiness is when people cat get what they exactly want and have to find ways to make them selves happy with what they have available. For example when he talks about Ragu only having one kind of spaghetti sauce for its customers and nothing else. I would say that's synthetic happiness because people had to do with what they had and made the best of it. Malcom also talks about when Ragu made more then one sauce to make everyone happy and became the top seller of spaghetti sauce. I would say he then is describing natural happiness. Natural happiness is when people get what they want and are happy. Ragu gave people natural happiness by doing exactly that, making more then one type of sauce.
